MEET OUR WINNER for 2009 Jean-Marc Moulot, International Business and Marketing major at Temple University, Ambler Campus, has won the “2009 College Competition.” His commercial entitled: “Brothers” received 39% of the votes tabulated with our online poll. After leaving France in 2007, where the rest of Jean-Marc’s family still resides, he has been gaining more and more traction for his future career, and he would like to instill positive change in peoples’ lives. Moulot is one of five siblings, and was born in Cote D’Ivoire. “My family is my rock, my father my hero and my mother my strength”. They are always on his side giving him advice when he needs it most. He thought of his younger brother when he wrote the script for his commercial, reminiscing about the importance of being a role model. Entering this competition gave him an opportunity to align his creativity with a message of encouragement to smokers who would like to quit. Moulot knows first hand that it can be difficult to quit smoking. While living in France he and most of his friends smoked. He quit by finding the right help at the right time. And he hopes that showing the commercial to his relatives and friends who still smoke will teach them to seek the help they need to quit. Moulot’s creative side got him interested in movie production at an early age, and his heart always told him to do something that would make the world a better place. For those reasons Moulot was excited when he found out about the anti-tobacco commercial. The commercial, Moulot says, gave him a chance to create a message that would be important. Moulot is grateful for everyone he knows that voted for his video, his friends who acted in it, Dr. Wanda, Lauren Williams, and the PADOH and SEPA who gave him the opportunity. He plans to finish his degree and then begin working at a large business firm (or maybe start his own company), but to someday make another public-service movie. The next cause that Moulot wants to take on is the abuse and mutilation of women, two offenses he hopes to help eradicate. We are grateful as well, that Moulot has contributed his time and energy to help others live a better life. |
